It is discussed by Pliny the Elder in his book The Natural History which was written between 23 and 79 A.D. It was so precious during ancient times that there were trade routes for Amber known as the Amber Road. It has been used for perfume, incense, and jewelry. It was burned in ceremonies and during rituals. It is a highly protective material that draws out negative energy. It is helpful in manifesting ideas into reality.
