Ram is the symbol of kingship and authority and the greatest sacrifice.

A Ram is a male Goat or Sheep. It is a member of the family bovidae. There are many varieties of this domesticated animal. There are also many subspecies that continue to exist in mountainous areas of the wild all over the world including Mountain Goats and Bighorn Sheep. Goat is the symbol of individuality and faith, Sheep is the symbol of tenderness and docility, but Ram takes things much further. Ram is the symbol of strength, boldness, and power. It portends new beginnings and new paths through life. It is the symbol of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, and the new beginning of each year. The ancient Egyptians used the Ram extensively in their depictions of the gods. The Ram was a symbol of the great Ammon-Ra and denoted bravery and fertility. The Ram’s horn, seen on the heads of many Egyptian gods and goddesses, was a symbol of immortality and salvation. The Greeks used the Ram to symbolize Zeus and Apollo. The Golden Fleece was a Sheepskin that could aid one to attain the impossible. The Middle Eastern gods Baal and Ea were associated with the Ram. In India, the Ram is associated with Indra and Agni. During the Middle Ages, weapons used to breach defenses were called battering rams in recognition of the Ram’s common practice of butting heads in fights. In China, Feng Shui recognized the Ram as auspicious and associates it with the family. The Celts associated the Ram with Brigid, goddess of fertility, and Cernunno, master of the hunt. Nigerians honored Ebune the Ram as the herald of spring. 

The Ram horn is a symbol of the power to penetrate and overcome obstacles. Its spiral connotes great creativity.
