LABRADORITE

Use the magical energy of Labradorite to awaken awareness of the inner spirit and enhance telepathy, clairvoyance, and all of the psychic powers.

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral of the plagioclase series. It is found in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rock, but is found most often in igneous rock such as basalt, grabbro, norite, and anorthosite. Many specimens exhibit a schiller effect which causes a strong play of iridescent blue, green, orange, yellow, and red colors. It is so well known for this effect that the effect is named labradorescence and values are determined by the degree of labradorescence. This effect is not caused by light reflecting on the surface of the stone, but by light entering the stone and striking a twinning surface inside the stone. The colors are caused by the light’s reflection from the twinning surface.  It is named for the first place it was discovered, Labrador, Canada. It is found in Finland, Madagascar, and Russia. There is also a type of Labradorite with copper inclusions found in Oregon in the United States which is called Oregon Sunstone. Legends of Native American Inuit tribes call Labradorite frozen fire that fell from the lights of the Aurora Borealis and gave the stone its play of light. It has been considered a magical stone that was used by shamans. It is said to awaken awareness of our inner spirit, intuition, and psychic abilities. Its magical vibration enhances the ability to experience telepathy, clairvoyance, and prophecy. It aids in communication with spirit guides and enables access to the Akashic Records. It is considered the most powerful stone of protection with the ability to shield the aura from all negativity. It is called a stone of transformation that enhances strength of will and inner worth. It is associated with the throat chakra. It is not associated with any astrological sign, but it is said to be a positive force for Cancer.
