Pegasus
Pegasus, the divine winged horse of Greek mythology, is one of the most beloved of all mythical beings. This beautiful creature is a symbol of divine inspiration, highly creative imagination, and poetic creativity.
Pegasus was born in tragedy, aspired to greatness, and broke all barriers of Earthly limitation to achieve the greatest of glory. Pegasus represents the transformative power that can make our dreams a reality; that can take us from ordinary to magnificent.
Pegasus is found in cultural legends beginning in Ancient Greece and continuing though many other historic civilizations. He is considered a symbol of liberation and freedom because of his ability to soar through the sky and also sprint across the Earth. This untethered power over both Earth and sky makes him a symbol of glorious power that cannot be restrained. Nothing can stop the boundless energy of this magnificent being.
Pegasus is also intimately connected to the Greek muses making him a symbol of creativity and inspiration. The father of Pegasus was the Greek sea god Poseidon who had dominion over the sea and was the creator of horses. From his father, Pegasus inherited a magical ability to create springs and he is said to have created a fountain that is the original birthplace of all poetic inspiration.
He is also associated with the bravery and swift decision making required on the battlefield. He was involved in many battles with the enemies of both Greece and humankind in general. His presence on the field of battle always brought victory.
Pegasus is also a source of divine power and wisdom. After helping to defeat the enemies of the Greeks and, indeed, the world, he remained for a time on Mount Olympus with Zeus and the greatest of the Greek gods. The king, protector, and father of the Greek gods, Zeus, made Pegasus the carrier of his lightning bolts and thunder. Pegasus was beloved by the gods residing on Mount Olympus.
Because Pegasus arose from the death of Medusa and rapidly transformed the darkness of tragedy to spectacularly beautiful achievement, he is often associated with grace, honor, and nobility. His ability to move effortlessly from Earth to sky makes him a symbol of great spiritual transformation.
This beautiful symbol exudes the highest possible vibration of energy. Pegasus represents the best qualities we could hope to have and success at the most worthy goals possible.
