BAT
Bat is the symbol of intuition, dreaming, and vision. It brings the power to see into other dimensions and discern the meaning of all that is encountered in life. It also symbolizes birth and rebirth and is closely connected to the Earth.
Bat is one of the few flying mammals. It is a member of the family Chiroptera. Its life span varies, but it is typically long-lived, and has been known to live as long as thirty years. Bat often lives in caves or buildings but also roosts in trees. Some Bats are solitary and some live in colonies with up to millions of members. It emerges every evening as it soars out to fly above the Earth in search of food. It has very poor vision, but uses a kind of sonar called echolocation to navigate its way through the darkness. It also uses magnetoreception, which is a type of navigation using the magnetic energy of the Earth. It uses this sensory perception when it migrates. It is a very vocal animal with distinct sounds produced for mating and defense. Many types of Bat are pollinators of fruits and flowers. Bats are elegant creatures that add much to the ecology of the planet, but have been seen by humans historically as creatures of the night that bring death and evil. They are strongly associated with witches. In some Native American cultures, they are seen as trickster spirits. Aztec legends describe them as creatures from the land of the dead. In Tanzania, there are legends of Bat shape shifters. They are often used in myths and literature as symbols of evil. Count Dracula, one of the first literary vampires, was a shape shifter that turned into a Bat. Shakespeare mentions Bat in one of his greatest plays Macbeth as a material used by witches in their brew. In modern times, many have theorized that a Bat sold in a Chinese open meat market was the source of the 2019 Corona virus.
Those with a Bat totem are usually extremely aware of their surroundings. They have the ability to see through illusion or ambiguity and get straight to the truth. They have great inner depth and an ability to communicate well with others. They are sociable and aware of the needs of the community. They are perceptive, flexible, and adaptive.
A Bat spirit animal may bring a warning that you should prepare for major life changes. It may symbolize the death of a part of yourself that was holding you back from reaching your higher self. Bat reminds us to follow through on new ideas or hunches.
A Bat dream may indicate that you are allowing fears to overcome you. It may be a reminder that there is nothing to fear. You must face any fear you have and get past it. You will be stronger for having done so. A Bat dream may also be a message about coming transition. If you are visited by Bat, be prepared to let go of old habits and prepare for the things to come.
